Natural Dye Workshop (Fri 3-5pm + Sat 12-1pm)

This workshop starts on Friday at 3pm for 2hrs for dyeing and then continues on Saturday from 12pm for 1 hour to finish.  You need to attend both sessions, the fee covers both slots.
 
In this workshop you will be learning the ancient craft of natural dyeing and exploring the incredible vibrancy and range of colours that can be obtained through plant and animal pigments. 

We will look at the history and folklore surrounding natural dyes, discuss different fibres and their properties, learn how to properly mordant fibres and have a go at dyeing fibres with a range of dyestuff. After this workshop participants will have naturally dyed skeins of yarn to take home with them, and the knowledge to continue experimenting with natural dyes in the future. 

I'm Caz Welch, your tutor, and I'm passionate about ancient crafts as they help me feel connected to the land which provides me with a sense of self reliance and resilience; not easily found in modern times.  My aim is to keep these crafts alive through education and to help people of all ages feel connected to our ancestors and their traditions.
